Tartraz recently adopted a kitten that is as cute as…well, nothing is as cute as a kitten. When I asked Dan if we could also adopt an orange and white kitty, I received what I affectionately refer to as “the stare where he contemplates taking me in for a psych evaluation.”
Me: But Tartraz got a kitten! I want a kitten too!
Dan: No
Me: Why can’t I get a kitten?
Dan: We have three cats.
Me: …and your point is?
Dan: You can get a kitten when we have less than 3 cats.
Me: Does it count that I still call them “Kitten” instead of calling them by their names? They’re not *really* cats if I call them kittens, right?
Dan: You are not helping your case.
Sam won’t let me get another kitty either… He also then reminds me that I have a baby on the way and I can’t argue any more…

Not at all apropos of this post, but…
