Rent at Mesa Arts Center

This is a cheating post, but I make no apologies. I’m designing for Rent this month and you should all come see it.

This show is amazing. I’ve always been a fan of the musical and feel privileged to be a part of this production. The cast is talented beyond belief, the choreography is superb and I’ve heard this rumor that the costumes are amazing. I’m just saying…you should all check it out and see for yourself.

Confession

I pride myself on being a good person.

Please stop laughing.

I try to help others. I keep an open mind. I am overly nice to strangers and even those who are rude. I recycle. I make fun of Dan less than 50% of the time. Overall, I attempt to make a difference in the world, whether it be big or little changes. I do have a flaw though. (Shocking, I know.) I have a bad trait that I can’t seem to shake, no matter how much I try.

I love seeing videos of people falling down.

My favorite video of all time is the Corelle dishes video of a fashion show.

Corelle Commercial

It appears once a year or so and I laugh hysterically every time I see it. I may or may not have been known to pause Tivo, rewind and watch it again. I think it will never grow old. Dan however, disagrees. He’s pretty sick of seeing it.

So if you fall down when I’m around and I fail at keeping a straight face while helping you up, please don’t take it personally. It’s my one and only flaw.

Again, what’s with the laughing?

Call the Authorities. October was Stolen.

I know it’s November 2nd and I’m behind on my posting, so you don’t need to point it out. This whole “Lady of Leisure” thing is hard, yo.

Let’s back up to October 21st, shall we? Happy 3rd Anniversary, Husband! I love you, kissy kissy, smooches, hugs, etc. I didn’t write a heartfelt post this year because I had more important things to do, like feed a giraffe tell him everyday that I love him. We celebrated by going to Wildlife World Zoo, where I got to feed a giraffe. I don’t know if I mentioned that yet. We also saw a baby ocelot who was only 2 weeks old. He was tinier than a kitten and I tried to convince Dan to smuggle him out for me. My husband refused to face jail time for my kitten whims, so I called a divorce lawyer.

October 30th – I saw a few friends from high school. We met up at the school and received a tour from the drama teacher. It was surreal to be back there. Some things hadn’t changed a bit while others were completely different. It was fun to see them and catch up, although it made me feel really old.

October 31st – Our neighbors were handing out full candy bars. Meanwhile, I was giving Whoppers to the kids who weren’t dressed in cute costumes. I’m pretty surprised our house didn’t get egged.

November 1st -We did a film shoot for Rent, the film part that shows in the background during various parts of the play. I went to organize their costumes and make sure that they all didn’t clash horribly or dress for the wrong season. It was a lot of fun, even though many of us were tired and/or hungover. We had a business owner try to charge us for filming her crumbling wall on the edge of the property and the actor who plays Angel stripped in front of two passing police women. You know, typical day in theatre.

I’m going to attempt the NaBloPoMo this year, even though it’s been long lapses of silence between my posts lately. So if you log on, only to discover I have posted a photo of a cat and nothing else, I take full responsibility. And by “full responsibility,” I mean “blame Dan.”
